ABC13 sought to promote the upcoming Oscars 2024 award ceremony but wanted to use the talent to highlight a parody for a nominated film. I was a team member in the Barbie movie parody, assisting with vector illustrations of the aerial view of Barbieland and talent nametags.
The creative service team scheduled shoots for each talent participating and made sure they wore the signature Barbie color: pink! The promo played on the motif of “Just Ken” which was a key part of the message the film.
OVERVIEW
I created the vector illustration in Adobe Illustrator, using the pen tool and shapes to create a replica of the ABC13 station overhead. When creating the trees and foliage, I created several versions of each tree - then transformed them as a stamp to easily distribute and give them variety through brushes.
I then created a vector illustration of a Barbie-fied version of ABC13’s Skyeye helicopter, referencing the airplane in the original frame from the Barbie movie.

This was the first promo I participated in, It was so much fun to ideate and make concepts with other creative service members!
This was the first project with ABC13 where I got to deliver vector-based exports to another department - helping me further understand how projects are managed and distributed as a final deliverable: a promotional commercial.
